I’ve waited three long years for this…
Hiding. Lying. Spying.
Waiting like a spider for her to wander into my web…
Now she’s here, and I have to get even closer to her. I’ll help her. Befriend her. Seduce her, even.
The only thing I can’t do is fall in love with her.
Her father took everything from me: my money, my family, my life.
He has to pay for what he’s done. And she’s the only thing that can hurt him…

I didn’t think it was possible for me to love any story in the Kingmakers series as much as I loved The Bully but The Spy proved me wrong. I loved it just as much as The Bully, if not more. Something that every Kingmakers fan has been waiting for is to find out who the Spy was and while my guesses about things like this are usually right, even I couldn’t have guessed who the spy really was.
The book has you hooked from the very first page, and there’s only a few books I’ve read that can pull off this type of story. Where lots of things were kept secret and mysterious about the book and when all was said and done, it didn’t let me down. I’m so sad that this is the final book in the Kingmakers series because I absolutely don’t want to leave this world and these characters.
“The Spy” was everything I wanted him to be, and more. I loved the character arc and seeing him develop throughout the course of the story. And the romance. God, the romance. Sophie Lark writes the perfect romances. They’re deep, soulful and the characters have such connections that it seems like they’re soulmates, destined to be together.
Nix was such an intriguing MC and the perfect match for our spy. She was a force to be reckoned with and just as I’d imagined she would be in my head. I loved watching the romance develop and seeing them as a couple made the romance addict in me jump up and down with happiness.
The plot was fantastic. There was obviously lots of mystery and suspense in the story and a lot of unanswered questions were finally answered with everything coming together. I loved seeing our other MCs too from the other books, seeing them made me so happy. And I always adore the epilogues of every book/series I finish, but Sophie Lark’s epilogues are even better than most. It was the perfect ending I could have imagined.
I’m trying very hard to be vague about the story and not give it away, while also trying to explain how good it was and why everyone should read it. I don’t think there’s ever going to be a time when I don’t recommend a Sophie Lark book so I obviously recommend everyone to read this one too.
